I was born in Dubai and raised in Lebanon and in Canada. I obtained a PhD in Psychology (Biopsychology) from the University of Michigan in 2004. This was under the supervision and mentorship of Dr Terry E Robinson. I then completed post-doctoral training, first at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research in Paris, France with Dr Pierre Sokoloff, and then at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada, with Dr Shitij Kapur. I am currently an associate professor of Pharmacology at the Université de Montréal, in Montréal, Canada. My research team and I are working to understand how drug addiction develops, and how its symptoms might be treated.
